The Munay-Ki are an invaluable set of nine rites passed onto Dr. Alberto Villoldo by the high shamans of the Amazon and Andes, under the agreement he could bring them to the western world.
While receiving the Munay-Ki, and researching and connecting with the Peruvian indigenous culture, I found great familiarity there, and this was in part, I feel, because the Peruvian teachings and the Toltec teachings are similar in so many ways. If the Laika passed their wisdom of their Four Insights on to the Inca (and subsequently the Q'ero nation), I would not at all be surprised if on their travels between 30 and 50 thousand years ago, they also passed their wisdom onto the Toltec Indians (and farther afield into the Americas, to span other tribes). When I read about both cultures, the philosophies are sometimes even exact.
During the rites, "seeds" containing ancient lineage are placed into your energy body over the period of about six months, and these seeds become yours to nurture. Traditionally meant for the healing work of shaman initiates, as the seeds grow, you also grow into the luminous warrior needed for this time on earth and its higher vibrational frequencies - and in essence, you become a healer by "being". From there, your path is yours, and it is the heart that will lead you.
You can read more about the rites at Munay-Ki.org. You can also follow Alberto Villoldo on Facebook where he shares a lot of his insights and wisdom.
Dianna received her rites from Sarah Williams in 2019.
A personal note:
“I had the privilege of meeting Juan Nuñez del Prado (who transmitted the Bands of Power rite to Dr Alberto Villoldo) in around 2003 at a talk in London around someone’s house. About 20 of us were there, gathered into a dining room where this wise, short man with kind eyes and a beard told stories of his childhood and what he learned about the Q'ero – he was a great storyteller. I don’t even remember how I was invited to this talk. I had no computer or internet back then, so it must have been by word of mouth. Someone who knew me from my flower essences training asked if I wanted to come, I think, since I was training in shamanism at that time. Juan had us all enthralled for hours. I had no idea at the time who he was. I had not even heard of the Munay-Ki, or the Q'ero people, and my own shamanic training was in Toltec shamanism with an eclectic flavour. I did remember the stories he told of his upbringing and his meetings with the Q'ero were heart-warming and familiar. I certainly wanted to know more.
“As the years went by, I confess, I forgot I had attended that talk. It was only very recently, after my own Munay-Ki journey in 2019, that I found Juan Nuñez del Prado on YouTube working with Chumpi stones (I had just acquired my own set and was going through an initiation with them, which is why I was searching for information on YouTube). I recognised him straight away (he hadn’t aged a day!) and the memory of that talk he held in London came flooding back. How odd, and fitting, and beautifully serendipitous, that in 2019 I had been led all the way back around to continue what I had started in 2002 … and a familiar face was there, albeit on the internet. (What a gift of communication that is!)
“There is no such thing as coincidence. We have a path we have chosen to walk, and we are guided every step of the way if we are prepared to see and hear that guidance.
